Description

5/11/2024 *Update* Infinite Hexagon v2.0 is the redesigned version with new foldable hinges to eliminate problems with broken corners or hinges. This version will allow you to assemble the fidget with ease. Thank you for your feedback which allowed me to make the model even better!

Tested on the following Bambu PLA filament: Basic, Sparkle and Metal

Also, I'm happy to introduce you Infinite Hexagon v2.0 | Triangles

[Update in comment below using Bambu filament] It's a very cool model, though I've been having trouble getting it to stay together. The joint that finishes last when printing doesn't close all the way, leaving an opening for the connector ball to slide out of. The attached image compares that top most join with the bottom joint on the same side. I'm new to 3D printing an am using an A1 Mini, so I started with that profile. Then I switched to the updated strength version (no supports). The best results I've had so far are using variable layer height with 0.16 as the default and changing seam position to back. I also lengthened the connectors from 25.00mm to 25.15mm, which helps the loose joints connect better. But that little divot at the front of the circle still lets them slide out.

Have you tried to keep the original A1 profile without any modification with a different filament? Keep me posted if that works for you. Thank you!

I haven't tried that, but I'll give it a go. I've been using a basic Creality PLA. I also have Bambu PLA and PETG. Do you have a recommendation?

Sorry to hear that. Which filament you used?

Yeah, you can really get a pinch. I printed a plastic ring for my thumb and I use that to press the hinges.

smart I should have used one of my gyro spinner rings since they fall out easily. but I somehow managed to break the triangle at the connection point ☹️

Nice job! Once I show it off to friends, everyone wants me to print one for their kids. I upped the infill and wall count to make sure it doesn’t break during assembly.

Made this for my oldest daughter who loves fidget toys. This printed perfectly in a Purple-Teal-Burnt Orange Eryone filament. Thanks for sharing!

Fun toy, printed the strong version and it went together well. Little stiff at first but it is loosening up some already.
