Description

Print-in-place planetary gear spinner. Spins freely straight off the plate.

I set up two print profiles for this model:
Heavy outer ring - prints using 43g of filament to make the outer ring heavier. This gives it a bit more inertia, but feels heavier in the hand.

Light outer ring - prints using 29g of filament. Feels lightweight in the hand and prints faster, but doesn't have as much inertia.

Both spin great - I'd say pick the print profile based on how you want it to feel in the hand.

Works perfectly right off the print plate. No stuck parts what so ever. The only change I made to the original profile was to change the infill pattern for the outer ring to Archimedean and that cut down the print time to 1h30m.

Nice print. A little bit too much tolerance between the parts I think

agree, but not sure it would work well with less?

Really nice design, thanks for designing and sharing. I found the stock one a little large for one handed spinning (as I like to use it) so I resized it to 50mm (down from 85mm) and adjusted the slicing settings to ensure it prints in good quality. I've added a profile for this here, called "Smaller (50mm)".

Printed beautiful thanks! I like the little bit of wobble, much better than it feeling grindy. For people who’s gears are getting stuck together, do a Flow Dynamics Calibration in Bambu Studio, settings are 0 to 0.040, 0.002 incraments and enter the best even line.

I spotted someone had a print error and it inspired me for my 2nd print :)

Tight tolerances but I got it loose.

The inner gear was no problem, for the planetary gears I used a flat screwdriver as a pry bar between each planetary gear and the outer ring. Be careful to not to use too much force. I stopped when I heard each breaking loose...

did the print not finish or is one side supposed to be infill?

Afraid it looks like your print didn't finish. It should be closed on both sides. Nozzle clog maybe?

Great profile, though it feels as if there is a bit more play to the gears than expected. But that might be intended

do they feel a bit loose? I printed the optimized version and the gears move a bit more than I'd like with the feeling like they'd fall out
