Description

I was running out of good spools for AMS. Waiting for the few BL spools to empty to re-spool them was frustrating and non practical. I decided to print a few spools with identical geometry as the original BL spools. I have included in design the very practical BL dismounting feature and a large desiccant tower.

I kept the same theme as the spool winder - cell pattern for improved visual, low material consumption and good mechanical proprieties.

The desiccant tower is automatically closed by the cover disc. This spool can be used without any problem in the AMS or in the spool winder without any flanges.

I used ABS and the closing mechanism between disks has worked perfectly. I did not test any other material.

The spool winder in pictures:

Version V02 added for both models - in fact just the cover has now a continuous zone where it is possible to place a label. The models  from the first version are kept as stl files with V01 naming added.

I had a roll of PLA that was never working properly on the AMS so I reinstalled it on this spool and now it works perfectly on the AMS, perfect size and weight.

Extremely efficient, I have already rewound a dozen spools.

The spool looks great and it's perfect for my purpose (rewind paper-spools). Unfotunately the interlocking is so strong, that I can't disassemble it anymore.

Just the perfect spool to fit with the winder. I printed it with eSun PLA+ and this spool looks indestructible. Everthing well designed as always. Thanks Sergiu. I also the pics of the remix I made from your model and thanks to you. https://makerworld.com/en/models/835924#profileId-781185

Working on AMS LITE ?

Regretfully NO

I'm not sure if this is a joke or not but I'll treat it as a serious question. Looking at the model you can see that the inner diameter is way too small to fit on the AMS Lite Rotary Spool Holder. Even with the Rotary Spool Holder removed the diameter of the spindle exceeds the diameter at the center of this spool.

I was thinking something like that too but realized tha this spool is only for the AMS, not AMS Lite. Not even the traditional spool holder.

I hope you get banned, you exploit the competition showcase with a model that has nothing to do with getting downloads!Reported!

Once again: "Whether it's the intricate structure of a virus, the complex architecture of a cellular organelle, ..., your designs should help bring the microscopic world to life." So ... the complex architecture of a cellular organelle... did you notice the title and the main architecture for my design? I have tried a bionic design solution that fits perfectly within the requirements for this contest. (In cell biology, an organelle is a specialized subunit, usually within a cell, that has a specific function. The name organelle comes from the idea that these structures are parts of cell.)

@Sergiu_Irimie Pretty obvious how the theme fits, sucks you get dips**t comments like that. Just wanted to say I use your model all the time, still, I'm busy printing the spare spools now too. You rock! Boosted.

How do you think this would work using a .8 nozzle?

I do not have much experience with large nozzles to give a clear statement. It might work - you have to check in slicer if any holes for the dessicant tower are produced as the clearance between holes is minimal.
