Description

The Vortex Cone. A cone shaped take on a fidget spiral thingimibob.

This is the full size version.  For a smaller one, see Vortex Cone Mini

This V2 version has a flattened base to remove bed adhesion issues with the original.

Description

For the uninitiated, this is two spiral shaped objects that fit perfectly within one another to make the cone (as in ice cream) shape.

The inner piece can be rotate right through the middle of the outer piece.

This one is designed to have a larger inner piece. This gives it heft and has room for your fingers to push it through. You can fidget with the inner piece until you find your inner peace. (had to be said)

Features

  • Larger twist shape making for easier manipulation with fingers
  • Cone shaped, you can pretend it's ice cream (my kids do)
  • No sharp edges in places you are likely to poke yourself with
  • Prints as two separate coloured objects to avoid excess poop (and who doesn't want to avoid excess poop?)
  • Annoyingly addictive. (I'm not sure this is a feature)

Versions

VersionDescription
1.0Original Vortex Cone
2.0Update Vortex Cone.  Flat bottom to solve bed adhesion issues

Note:   The original cone shape is available on plat 2.  Glue on bed is recommended to remove any chance of bed adhesion if printing original version.   New version should print fine glue free.

Happy fidgeting

I don't suppose you'd care to elaborate? I've printed about 10 of them now with no issues. What doesn't work?

I've increased the brim a bit on the profile as bed adhesion is the only thing I can think of that might be causing issues. If this is the issue please give it another try.

I'm guessing a few people have had adhesion issues. I've updated the design to increase the bed contact. Also the base pillars now join at the bottom which should increase rigidity and keep it stable. The v2 version shouldn't run into any adhesion issues. Give it a try and let me know

Appreciate the boost and the comment. The goal was to make it easier to fidget with than the traditional spike version. If you have time please rate the profile. I have a one star average at the moment with no actual feedback.

Yes, finally a rating! There's been 32 prints and 100+ downloads and only one 1 star rating due to stringing. Thanks
