Description

Some bugs need to be squished. Some kids need a little encouragement to learn to squish bugs for themselves (when needed). This is designed to give a little encouragement to those kids, or anyone who needs some help.

Glue is required for assembly.

Features

  • Large flat surface
  • Corner feature for reaching into corners
  • Comfortable handle
  • Rounded edges (not sharp)
  • Square dowel for easy alignment during assembly

Slicing and Printing

I've used PETG. The design should be compatible with other rigid filaments like PLA and PETG.

I recommend adding some layers to the bottom of the base, perhaps a full millimeter or a little more. Two perimeters might be enough, but three is better, especially for the base.

Assembly

Long story short: glue everything together. 🙂

Details:

  1. Add some glue (I prefer E6000) inside the square hole of the base (where the dowel will be inserted) and on the curved top surface (where the handle will rest)
  2. Insert the dowel into the base (orientation doesn't matter)
  3. Add some glue to the vertical edges of the dowel
  4. Place the bottom half of the handle (the part with the square hole all the way through) onto the curved top surface of the base (it should align and fit snugly to the base)
  5. Add some glue to the flat top surface of the bottom part of the handle and the top of the dowel
  6. Place the top half of the handle (the part with the square hole that only goes partway through) onto the flat surface and the dowel.

The square dowel should help align everything, and the glue should keep everything together nicely once it dries/cures.
