Description

I stumbled upon a model here last weekend and it blew my mind. Once I started making my own stuff I stopped trying to add text in Bambu Slicer. The ability to add embedded text in a flat print was probably there the whole time, but I had no idea! I love when I learn new things and this one really got me saying “are you kidding?" over and over, and "It's this easy?!?” and “how did I not know this?!?”… Anyway, so the model is https://makerworld.com/en/models/481135#profileId-392814. He has a great explanation of how you add your own text in the slicer. (Also, he explains that you can bring an SVG file into the slicer to turn it into a shape, which really surprised me as well). Head over and check out his information for an explanation from a smarter person, but I will try and give instructions here as well! You can check out the photos for most of the steps to follow in my print profile.

Man I wish 3D printing was a thing when I got married because I would have made sooo many things. Low cost wedding favours have never been more accessible and easy to make! Whether you are having an actual Disney Fairytale wedding or are just a Disney fan- this is an easy souvenir for you or your guests. It features the typical bride and groom ear hats and two areas of customizable text for whatever you would like to add!

Important note: keep the coaster face up for any editing or it gets funky and throws the text on the top/back of the coaster. If you are trying to edit the text and you don't see it, this is probably the issue.

  1. You will need to have the “objects” tab open for easiest access. There are two separate text objects that you can edit. You can change them to the filament colour your want to use in the object menu as well.
  2. Follow the steps shown in the photos- don't change the depth and thickness. Scroll through the fonts and see how they look and fit. If you have extra fonts installed on your computer they will be in the list but I found none of them will actual “compute” properly and instead they will appear as boring classic Arial or something like it. There may be a way to make other fonts work, but I do not know how. You will probably need to use a one of the classic system fonts in the list.
  3. You can adjust the size for the font depending on the space you have but just be careful with skinny, small fonts- always check after slicing to make sure the lines show up.
  4. When you are ready, FLIP YOUR COASTER FACEDOWN FOR PRINTING (assuming you want it that way haha). The previously mentioned model I learned this from suggests rotating instead of using the usual ‘lay on face" option. I have not had any issue with the “lay on face” option for this, just make sure you click the middle of the coaster maybe. Use rotate if that doesn’t work for you.

Any issues let me know! I hope it works smoothly for you.
