I'm no expert at upholstery, 3d modelling, or painting, but I really wanted to get rid of the old tiny center console in my NA Miata. It was in rough shape and not at all comfortable, so I decided to build my own from scratch over the past two weeks. This is the result! It's by no means perfect, but it's extremely comfortable, has a cupholder, and holds way more stuff. I call it a win. 

The body was printed in 4 pieces, sanded down, glued together, then painted with a high build primer and SEM Satin Black paint to match the rest of the car. For the arm rest, I used high density foam that was packed into a plastic bag and vacuum sealed to make it even more dense. I used a leather vinyl to cover the entire armrest.

If you intend to take on this project, take your time. It takes a long while to get perfect.
