*This is the updated version of my previous design in-order to make printing and remixing easier.
Fixel 2
This is a print in place, expandable, fabric that doesn't require any supports.
This design is made up of hexagons with small ball joints with just the right spacing between the ball and sock to not fuse while printing but to still hold the model in place while printing.
This version has edge and corner pieces that remove the need for support.
Printing instructions
This model can be difficult to print so I recommend starting with the small version first.
No supports.
.2 mm layer height (some variation works but it is printer dependent)
Material properties
PETG-cf: has the best print success rate and good movement and feel
PLA/PETG: also prints well, louder when moving it around, comes undone easier
Nylon/Nylon-cf: come out stiff and doesn't come undone easily
**there is sometimes build up around the nozzle mid print, pausing it and removing the build up can save the print.
Additional notes
If you would like to make your own design on top of the print, check out the “Fixel design templet” in the zip file or on Grab CAD. Then follow along in my video bellow on how to add your own design on top.
Future Updates
let me know if there is anything you would like to see with the next version!
Right now, I'm working on making it slightly thinner, and having a variable amount of flex.
