Have an Adventure with this Treasure Map Toy!

Original design for the 2023 Christmas Community Print Drive.

Can you decipher the symbols and trace the path to treasure? This fun, textured map is designed for printing with one, two, or three colors with filament swaps. Try glow-in-the-dark or UV-sensitive filaments for an added element of surprise!

The raised model can be used for crayon rubbings. See photos for an example by my kids.

Pair the Treasure Map Toy with my Spyglass Toy. The map in one hand and the spyglass in the other immediately brings to life imagination magic!

Additional Information and Print Settings

“Raised” model is approximately 96 x 109 x 3.75 mm. “Indented” model is 3.00 mm thick. I printed with 0.25 mm layer height, 2 perimeters*, 15% infill, and 3 top and bottom layers. No supports. No raft.

For two-color versions with a filament swap, set the change at 3.00 mm for the “Raised” version and set the change at 2.25 mm for the “Indented” version. With 0.25 mm layer height, this will make three layers of the new color.

Two additional models have the “X” as opposite raised/indented. This adds more texture and may be used for three-color printing with two filament swaps. Screenshot included for suggested color scheme.

*Note: I suggest 2 perimeters for the details on the raised version so that there is more space for the infill on those parts. Although, a rough print does give it a more rustic look!

Lowering the z-placement of the model will create a thinner print that will print faster and be just as fun. However, it will not be as sturdy. For the Christmas Community Print Drive, print the models with original thickness.
