Description

I designed this Auger Sand Vault to keep your valuables safe while you play in the ocean. Screw it down into the sand, insert your valuables into it, and screw on lid then put towel over it and go off and enjoy your activities without worry of your stuff getting stolen.

This took many revisions to get to this final model. I designed it in tinkercad.

Ideally you should print this in PETG or something more heat resistant (ASA or ABS) I did mine in PLA just for a sample

Vault has a a simple twist to lock mecahnism and a groove for an optional O-ring if you desire, it also features a hole in the cap handle so you can hook a string or carabiner to it for easy carrying/transport.

Reccomended size: This can be printed at 95% scale to accomodate most modern phones, I found this to be the best size andit prints a little faster than 100%

My print settings: .24 draft layers, arachne walls, 3 walls, 10% adaptive cubic with infill combination (checked), top and bottom surfaces = monotonic line

Support:

You do not need supports for the auger ridges, just for the interior to make a smoother finish, it can be printed without but may leave it a little rough inside!

For lid i have it set at: normal(auto) > snug > Thresh Angle=35 > on build plate(checked) > Remove small overhangs(checked)

For Vault I have it set at: Tree(auto)> Tree organic > Thresh Angle=35 > on build plate(checked) > Remove small overhangs(checked)

These support settings made the inside of cup pretty clean and easy to remove( i put my hand inside the vault and simply snapped the tree sideways and the whole clump came out in one piece, the cap part i used my pick and stabbed into top of support then just pried it up and it also came out in large single pieces.

Overall the .24 gives it a rough look but its going to get rougher looking in the sand anyhow.
