Description
Update 2023-12-31: Newer Elegoo cardboard spools fit the bambu lab spool without the need for this adapter.
This adapter allows you to use a Bambu Lab refill spool or equivalent self printed spool with an elegoo cardboard spool. I typically use the rings on cardboard spools unless the cardboard is warped or damaged. With damaged cardboard spools, I will use the steps below to use the elegoo core on a Bambu Lab spool.
Adapter Core
Each spool requires one core adapter.
- Remove one cardboard sides off of the original spool.
- Place the spool on a sturdy surface with the open side facing up.
- Insert the adapter into the center of the spool. Make the edge of the adapter flush with the edge of the cardboard core. The adapter has a slot to line up with the notch on the Bambu reusable spools. Make sure slotted side of the adapter is facing out
- Separate the Bambu reusable spool into two parts.
- Insert the Bambu spool section with notch onto the spool core so that the notch lines up with the slot on the adapter.
- Holding the spool together firmly, flip over the spool so that the remaining cardboard side faces up.
- Remove the remaining cardboard sides off of the spool.
- Insert the remaining Bambu spool section onto the spool core.
- Rotate the Bambu reusable spool sections until the two sections “click” together.

does not fit in elegoo spool centers. I assumed it was an issue of bad print settings so I checked the actual size against that of the model itself and It was only 1/64” off. It t seems the problem is that either elegoo changed its spool design (unlikely), or this was made to fit a Bambu spool w/o consideration for the elegoo spool center.

Sorry it did not fit. Was it too big or too small for the Elegoo spool? I know the manufacture did change the size of their spools so the adapter is no longer needed on recent Elegoo spools I have purchased.

it was too large to fit the cardboard center piece by about 2-3mm. I’ll take a look tomorrow and use a caliper on it.

I can confirm, the newer spools do fit on bambu spool perfectly. Older Elegoo spools I bought earlier this year are working with this spool adapter.

Printed and realized it dont fit... but it is not you fault...maybe i have some newer spools that fit directly into the Bambu spoool without this spacer :D But print is nice

The newer coils no longer need this adapter as they fit directly.
