Description

PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE PRINTING (there's a short assembly/instructional video at the end)

WARNING!!!: Let's get the most important thing out of the way first. The Print Profile provided requires an AMS for the One-Piece Lid ONLY. The One-Piece Lid is the only part that requires supports. I printed everything in PETG, and used PLA as a support interface for the lid. You CAN print this lid without the PLA interface, but if you do, you'll need to download the files and print using your own support settings. If you try to use the Print Profile (for the one-piece lid), and do not use the PETG/PLA combo, the supports will be impossible to get off.

The Sandy Safe is meant to be buried in the sand, keeping the lid uncovered so you can open/close it. Once buried, you can hide the Sandy Safe under your towel, and store your valuables in it. It is roughly 10" tall and can easily hold 2-3 phones plus a wallet, keys, and more. You can print an optional TPU gasket to attach to the main body for added water/sand protection.  This is not included in the Print profile, but can be downloaded as an STL

If you'd like Selling-Rights, or a merchant license agreement, or just want to “buy me a coffee,” please message me for details!

There are two Lid Options

  1. Two-Piece Lid: This lid prints in two pieces, and requires glue and assembly. No supports needed.
  2. One-Piece Lid: This prints as one piece, and requires supports. It's a little deeper and has a “carrying handle” built in.

The square hole in the lid handle is for an optional flag you can print. If you'd rather not hide the Sandy Safe under your towel, you can burry it and use the flag as a marker…

Here is a short assembly instruction video. If you have any questions regarding the model or the print settings, please message me or leave a comment. If you do print it, make sure to share some pics of it when finished, and give me some feedback! Thanks!

Biggest thing I've ever printed. It would definitely hold a lot of phones, wallets, and keys. I look forward to using it at the beach.

I did the two piece and modified it to have my name and number in case it gets lost.

so I printed this and it’s certainly massive. having just returned from the beach where I put it to real world use, it cannot effectively screw itself into the sand, because it is too thick. you basically need to dig a hole for it (which is totally fine by the way!). however, once it is effectively buried and the lid added on, because the lid and the screw base are threaded in the same direction, if your lid is at all tight you are likely to begin unscrewing the whole thing from the sand rather than unscrewing the lid. I would recommend reverse threading one of the two to avoid this. the threading on the body isn’t sufficient to drill it into the sand without being buried, but it is definitely sufficient to remove it once buried. honestly it’s gigantic- and this may be a feature for some folks, but I could have used maybe half the space and been overall happier. still a super neat and useful device though. would love to see a 2.0.

Thank you so much for that awesome feed back! I kind of figured the "threads" would be a little gimmicky and that they wouldn't really allow you to screw it in. However, I left them on there, because I hoped that once it was buried in the sand, the threads would hold it in there more securely. On version 2.0 I will reverse the threads so it tightens as you run left and loosens as you turn right. (continued in next reply)....

As for the size, I was trying to make it large enough to fit the biggest phones, which this just barely does. I did print one at 50% and it printed perfectly even at that scale. Which lid did you print - the one part or two part? Thanks again for the feedback!!

I printed the one part. removing the uppermost layer of supports (as it sits printed) popped the actual top apart so I ended up gluing it together anyway, but that was because I went at it like a gorilla.

It’s a beach vault. You bury it in the sand, and then hide it under your towel. You can store all of your valuables in it.
