The Sand 3D-Printer is a handheld sand toy that my brother and I designed for the Beach Essentials competition. Having noticed that the extruders on the market all work rather poorly, we saw the competition as an opportunity to give it a go and design our own. The Sand 3D Printer allows children (and adults) to experience the joy of building objects with layers. It is easy to use and opens up exciting new design possibilities. But be careful. When the Sand 3D-Printer is almost empty, it will spit out the remaining water. This could ruin your print. For best results, use dry or moist sand and make sure your print surface can absorb water from your print. Failure to do so may result in the printer extruding too quickly and overly wet compound or a collapsing print.
Get Started
1. Print the funnel (The Strainer is optional and helps dosing the water)
2. Fill the funnel part of the Sand 3D-Printer with sand up to the edge where it becomes cylindrical.
3. Press the sand down until it has a flat surface.
4. Place the strainer on top of the funnel, aligning the notches on the funnel with the grooves on the strainer.
5. Fill the strainer with water. (If you decided to not print the strainer, pour the water directly into the funnel)
6. Wait for the sand to come out of the funnel.
7. Happy Printing
