Description

Introducing the Ultimate 3D Printable Fishing Popper!

Get ready to elevate your fishing game with the “Perfect Popper” design, the perfect blend of innovation, functionality, and ease of assembly. Designed specifically for the Fishing Gear Design Contest, this 200mm long popper is set to become your go-to lure for attracting the biggest catches.
Why spend $10-20 on high-quality lures when you can print your own for less than $1 in material cost?

This lure can be scaled down and upsized depending on needs, just make sure to adjust steel ball and wire size accordingly.
This has been tested in PLA Plus and PETG with perfect buoyancy.

Specifications:

- Length: 200mm
- Assembly Materials: Superglue/epoxy, large treble hooks, 16 gauge wire, 2x 8mm steel balls, 5-10x 2-4mm steel balls (adjustable for desired weight)
- Optional: Paint and clear coat for customization and UV protection

Assembly Instructions:

1. Print the Lure:
- Use the optimized .3mf file for strength and buoyancy.

2. Prepare the Wire:
- Cut and loop 16 gauge wire into 2x 20mm sections and 1x 13mm section.
- Create 3mm bends at each end of the wire sections.

3. Insert the Wire:
- Place the wire sections into the appropriate slots as shown in the reference image.

4. Add Steel Balls for Weight:
- Insert the 8mm steel balls into the weight holes.

5. Customize the Rattle:
- Add 5-10 steel balls (2-4mm each) to the lower pocket. Adjust the quantity and size based on your preferred rattle pitch and lure weight. A recommended configuration is 7x 4mm steel balls.

6. Assemble the Lure:
- Apply a generous amount of superglue to the connection wall of the lure.
- Clamp the pieces together and allow them to dry completely.

7. Attach the Eyes:
- If using printed eyes, superglue them into the eye sockets.

8. Finish the Surface:
- Sand away any excess superglue. Optionally, sand away the print layer lines for a smoother finish.

9. Paint and Protect:
- Paint your lure and apply a clear coat. This step is crucial for sealing the lure and preventing UV degradation.

10. Attach Hooks:
- Securely attach the large treble hooks to your lure.

And there you have it! Your custom-made, 3D printable fishing popper is ready to hit the water and catch some fish. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or just starting out, this lure is designed to give you an edge in any fishing adventure. Happy fishing!
