Description
The provided script generates a 3D model that creates text inside a polygon shape. Utilizing strategic overhangs, the text appears to be almost floating within the shape.
Boost Me (for free)
Boosts really help me continue designing, so if you like my work, it's a great way to say thank you at no cost to you.
Quick guide:
Press the customize button and edit the parameters as you want.
Option A: Export the model in stl and import it into Bambu Studio and select "Arachne Wall generation" and “no supports”.
Option B: Download the profile “SuspendedMaker - Model template” and replace the model with the generated stl
Customization:
Text Content: The variable text_content contains the text to display in the 3D model. Default: “Miguel.”
Text_content_2: This variable allows writing a second line of content, if it is empty, it will center the first one.
Font Type: The font_type variable specifies the font for the text. You can choose from various fonts such as “Noto Sans SC,” “Inter,” “Montserrat,” etc (all available at makerword customizer)
Font Size: The font_size parameter determines the size of the text.
Polygon Shape: The script creates a polygon with a specified number of sides (num_sides). This value can be adjusted between 4 and 20.
Extrusion Width: The width parameter controls the extrusion width of the polygon.
Frame Width: The frame width.
Additional Notes:
Expert Options: The script includes advanced parameters for fine-tuning the model, such as vertical_line_offset, line_width, line_spacing, height_gap, and gap_factor. Adjust these parameters if necessary to achieve the desired result.
Printing Instructions:
Preparation: Download the attached profile, remove the default model, and add your generated model. This ensures the configuration works as expected.
Preview Check: Always check the preview tab to confirm the model is complete and the slicer has not removed any parts.
Aracne Wall Generation: Ensure the Aracne wall generation option is active to generate the necessary overhangs.
Model Orientation: Keep the model orientation as generated to ensure that the overhangs are properly calculated.
Improvements backlog:
Allow simpler colouring of the model
Select if you want the model to be faced up or down for better look of the front layer
Changelog:
v2: Added support for second line
v1: Initial release
If you like the model, give it a like and share a boost if you have an extra one. All comments, suggestions, features are welcome, so feel free to leave a comment with it.
is the one of the profile showing the lines? could you share with me by private message the STL or tell me all the options you are using in the customizer? if you save your bambú studio project 3mf I will take a look
Hello @migueljeronimoa,
I am trying to print but when I am previewing the slicer the lines are not being shown.
I have wall generator set as Arachne.
I have used the example 3mf profile print and replaced the piece.
check your configuration and activate Arachne wall generation or download the attached print profile and replace the model with yours as described in the instructions
I found the problem.
Line width was 0.2 and nozzle 0.4 will not be able to print it
I changed the line width and now lines are displayed in the preview
Thanks for your help
you should see the lines after slicing the file in the preview. If you don't have them, check arachne wall generation is active as described in the instructions. You can also download the profile and replace the model for yours, so you will keep the same configuration params
I will try that tomorrow, thank you! I’ve only had this for 5 days and I’m having fun and learning as I go! I allowed the print to finish and I’ll suspend it in a frame, so not a total waste.
@mimicastle you will have fun with it for sure, but it will take you some time to learn a few things. As an advice, always check the preview of the slicing before printing.
Hi @alan.kock sorry to hear that. Could you share a picture of your file sliced where the different types of lines could be seen? have you set the Arachne in the wall generation feature?is it possible that instead of this you have activated thin walls option? have you tried other filaments?
miguel,
Apologize for not being helpful there. I did the plate straight on and didn't save the project. I did activate the Arachne wall generation, as for 'activated thin walls' I see 'detect thin walls' checkbox but is its greyed out so I can't check it.
@alan.kock can you try to generate a new slicing and try to send the result in a .3mf to me using the direct messages?
That way I can take a look into it and see if I can detect any problem.
Taking a look into the picture you uploaded I can see the lines get very thin once the get the upper part of the model.
When slicing it, if everything is correct, selecting the "Line Type" view mode, you should see the lines crossing the model in a different color (overhang lines)
