Here we have the fishing rod holder. This loops through a belt to hold your rod when you need two hands. Perfect use for when tying on new lures, removing fish from hooks, or anything else that would traditionally require you to set your rod down. This rod holder features a “locking mechanism” where the rod is inserted into the holder at and angle and the reel will rotate and sit behind a “tab” to help secure the rod from accidentally pulling out.
This has been printed with generic PLA (obnoxiously bright banana yellow), with minimal support. Used a 15% gyroid infill, and proved to be plenty durable, even under stress.
This has been a design I have been thinking about for years. Current market offerings are either too expensive for what they are worth, or they are lacking the functionality that is actually needed for fisherman use. Most cheaper options seem to basically be a plastic tube that would hold a rod vertically on the belt. That design seems inconvenient because I believe the rod would be in the way. This design will project your rod out at a 30 degree angle to give full access to whatever you need to do.
