Description

Aesthetic filament spool stand. Fits small sample filament spools and standard size spools too!

Sample filament saga - Episode 3 - The Stand! :)

Finally I'm finishing my little project. From winding filament samples to random standard size spools (or use them loose and pray they don't get tangled) to remixing some proper size one, making master spool adapter for it and now matching design stand. All done, for your and mine convenience.

I recreated honeycomb pattern used on sample spools and built this stand around it. As a bars I used 15mm diameter aluminium tubes/pipes with 1mm thick walls (Important! model pegs are 12.9mm). They give this stand nice, modern look, lightweight aesthetic and plenty of strength to hold even standard size spools. Check Amazon or eBay for aluminium tubes/pipes and you find them easily. I bought 1m long one for around 4 Euro. Alternatively you may use 3d printed extension bars I added to this model. They are oversized to 20mm diameter for strength. Length of 14.5cm - equal to 5 sample spools. Print 4 and connect with attached pegs to get stand for 10 spools (29cm - that's the length of my aluminium tubes). I do not recomend them for 1kg spools - I don't think they are strong enough.

If you want to make stand for standard size spools print “stronger version” or “ultra strong” model, preferably using ABS/ASA or PETG. For really long stand use “ultra strong” version. Tubes are supported here.

All my models are standard 3mf files. Load them to slicer same way as STLs.

As always - any feedback welcome and ask if you have questions. Happy printing! :)
