Description

Here's my instructions for 3D printing a pixel art Slowpoke without the need for an AMS. Please be aware I will not include a prepared print profile for this as I don't trust the Bambu handy app to not mess up the profile when printing from the cloud.

As for specific printing settings, you need strong bed adhesion, otherwise individual pixels will get knocked off of the print bed. In my experience, even a clean textured PEI bed isn't enough and I consider glue a must for this print.

To add to this, I'd seriously recommend printing slowly for this specific print, printing too fast could easily knock already printed parts off of the print bed. I'd recommend setting your first layer speeds to 10mm/s and all other layers to 20mm/s. But you could probably get away with 20mm/s and 30mm/s.

Finally, print this at a layer height of 0.2mm

Now for the specifics of how to print this model:

Step 1: Import the 5 files and choose “yes” when given this prompt

Step 2: Position the model in the corner of the build plate, this is the prevent the nozzle colliding with the print during setup as it probes the centre of the build plate

Step 3: Open the edit tab of the printer you plan to use

Navigate to “Machine gcode”

And edit this line here so it reads M140 S55 (or whatever bed temperature you use, I use 55 degrees)

Step 4: Open the edit tab of the filament you plan to use

Navigate to settings overrides and tick “Z hop when retract” and “Z hop type”

Change these to 1mm and “normal”

Step 5: Select the object and choose “split to objects”. Do not touch the parts after this as you'll ruin the alignment

Step 6: Navigate to the objects tab And deselect the colours you don't want to print. Make sure you print in this order: print 1: Light pink, print 2: tan, print 3: white, print 4: dark pink (or red), print 5: black

Step 7: slice

Step 8: When you click “print” make certain you disable “flow calibration” and “bed levelling” (you can run bed levelling on the first print only if need be) otherwise the print head will collide with previous prints during these operations and ruin them.

Repeat steps 6-8 for all 5 colours (make absolutely certain to do black last) and you're done!
