Description

On our last fishing trip we ended up on a beach. Our in-ground pole holders wouldn't work in the loose sand and we did not want to set our reels on the ground. We ended up having to hold our fishing poles which is inconvenient to say the least when doing bait-and-wait fishing.
When we came home I designed these fishing pole holders so we could attach them to our folding chairs.


Available with two versions of the holder tube: an easier to pack compact version, and full version with a deeper holder.
The clamp will attach to tubes between ½ inch and 1 inch in diameter.
The angle between pole-holder and clamp can be selected from 12 different available positions.

Prints without supports, fits on a single A1 mini plate.

NOTE: This is intended to be a light-duty holder that will hold your pole upright. Do not over-tighten the clamp with alpha-gorilla strength. It's not necessary. The holder will not fight a fish for you or land you a 500lbs tuna. Please loosen the drag on your reel and use a clicker whenever your rod is in the holder.

Printing Instructions
Print without supports and print the bolt and the nut using 100% infill. The default profile takes care of these settings for you.

First time Assembly

  • Place the nut in the space inside the pole holder and hold it in place.
  • Notice the pole-holder fits into the 12-sided indentation in the left claw.
  • Push the bolt through the claws and tighten against the pole-holder.
  • After this initial setup, the pole holder can be attached and detatched without disassembling.




General 3d Printing Tips

  • Make sure your printing plate is clean! Oils from your skin will cause adhesion issues for your prints. Regularly wash your print plate with a detergent like Dawn and avoid touching the surface when removing prints from the bed.
  • If it's an option on your printer, always opt to level the bed before each print. If you have to perform this manually, make sure you do this after every few prints. It takes a bit of time and patience, but it's a fair trade for reliable prints.
  • Ensure bed and nozzle temperatures are within the expected range for the material you are printing. Temperatures that are too high or too low will affect the print negatively by causing warping, malformed layers or adhesion issues.
  • Reduce your printing speed. Slower print speed is especially important for overhangs because it gives the material more time to cool as it's deposited.

A++, Nice design. I live in a seniors apartment complex and could see this with a clamp modification or two to work with walkers and handicap scooters. We have a lot of residents who like to fish. This would make it easier for them to participate. Thanks for your design.
