Description

This Thing is to mount your echo dot 3 in an outdoor space. The base part is credited to “Nrmilanovic” user on thingeyverse. I added the slip on cover for a little more rain protection and give it an aesthetics boost at the same time. the cover is a snug slip fit that does not need hardware to install. The base part will need 2 screws to fasten to your exterior wall.

So far so good. Printed nicely in PETG. We'll see how well it holds up in the elements in Minnesota. Only issue I had was the inner arms that hold the echo Dot in one spot started cracking / separating along later lines at the base level. Probably an issue with my filament and generic settings. Some super glue and epoxybresin rinforcement hopefully took care of the issue, though.

Thanks for sharing. Print looks great. how was the fit between the 2 parts in PTEG? I have heard the dot itself will stop working in below freezing temperatures but start working again when it warms up. not something I need to worry about but in Minnesota, you might want to keep an eye on it.

The fit seems just right - snug but reasonably easy to remove. Dunno that I'll intentionally leave the dot out in the mount over the winter, but it may happen. Thanks for the heads up, I'll try to remember to bring it in. Have had a 4th gen Dot in the uninsulated garage that seemed to hold up last winter (this most recent winter doesn't count, it was unusually warm) without losing access, wonder if it is just the 3rd gen that doesn't do well in the cold or I got lucky? Also makes me want to find a similar outdoor enclosure for the 4-5th gen Dot (ball) version, it sounds a bit better too. Anyway, thanks again!
