Description

ikeAMS ver 2

A reverse drybox.

Updated version! I replaced the need for 608 bearings and threaded rods. Now includes print in place bearing. The bearing and slider are based on the design by motoz from Thingiverse.

Flipping the box upside down includes benefits:

  • Larger area to work with when placing the spool
  • Only drill holes in the lid instead of the box, since the box is more expensive
  • Movable filament guides reduce possible filament jams

What you need:

  • Ikea 365 container: 792.767.60, ikea 365 lid: 303.930.63
  • Around 200g of filament
  • 2x pneumatic PTFE tube connector
  • A ¼ inch or 6mm drill
  • Some PTFE tubes to guide filament

Notes

  • If the pully is a bit stuck after printing, roll it around to loosen it
  • Pay attention to the arrow mark on the slider and pully, on one side they are threaded counterclockwise

I uploaded a new file: Pully_loose.step with greater tolerance, you can try that out. I will work on a design variation that supports 608 bearings. Right now I don't think it is possible to use a bearing without redesign. I do have a previous design version that uses 608 bearings: https://makerworld.com/en/models/117169, you will need to purchase some 8mm threaded rods for that one.
