Description

ikeAMS

05/22/24 UPDATE:

  • Please check out fully printable new version : https://makerworld.com/en/models/472463#profileId-382293
  • Spaced back the rollers to reduce friction with the PTFE guide.

A reverse drybox.

Flipping the box upside down includes benefits:

  • Larger area to work with when placing the spool
  • Only drill holes in the lid instead of the box, since the box is more expensive
  • Movable filament guides reduce possible filament jams

What you need:

  • Ikea 365 container: 792.767.60, ikea 365 lid: 303.930.63
  • two 160mm 8mm threaded rods
  • 8x 608 bearings
  • 2x pneumatic PTFE tube connector
  • A ¼ inch or 6mm drill
  • Some PTFE tube to guide filament

You can use the holes on the base to guide the alignment of the holes on the lid.

Currently working on a version that doesn't need the threaded rods

Thanks for you support! There is a design issue I found out which is the roller rubbing against the PTFE guide when the spool is almost empty. I will update the design by moving the roller rearward and also upload a fully 3D printable version today.
