Description

Introduction

I accidentally bought 250g spools with an internal diameter of 42mm, Which doesn't fit the AMS rollers as they support 53-58 mm only.

The only solution was to design a full replacement of the AMS-Lite compatible Spool roller :)

This design is print-in-place, snaps into place like the original rollers using the same mechanism and provides a smooth enough rolling of the spool (I tested it only in PETG wich seems to be “slippery” enough, not sure about PLA).

Remix details

I re-used JirkaAerox's spool fins for the outer shell, and modelled a print-in-place inner axel with my reverse-engineered connectors compatible with the AMS-Lite yellow Hexagonal and Square-ish green connectors.

Printing details

Printer: A1 mini with AMS
Filament: Cheapest PETG I could find (TECOR orange)

Walls: 2
Infill: 10% gyroids
Supports: none

number of plates (A1 mini): All four can fit on one plate, but I choose to print them separately to reduce the impact if there's a failure
Print time: around 2.5 hours per roller

so simple, used a generic PLA+. only issue for me was some extreme tightness so I had to bore it out a tiny bit. I’m sure I messed with it while I was prepping the plate but it’s way better than wasting 125$ worth of sunlu

This worked amazingly; I had a couple models of the more complicated universal spool holders that worked, but were way more involved than needed. I wish I would have found this the first time, I would have saved so much time and filament!

I have several 1kg rolls of prusament PLA and they won't fit on my AMS Lite because the center hole is too small. Does anyone know if these will work with those rolls?

no it won't unfortunately, I will quickly resize it and test print it, I also have prusa rolls that are slightly undersized :)

Seems to fit with the quick test! Give me a few hours to check the full print and upload the prusa version :)

I bought 2 boxes of the 250g spools 6 per box and the colors are what drew me. But I wanted to use them on my Bambu A1 mini. This is the perfect solution!! printing them now.
