Description

Container for filament spools with container for silica gel. A different way to store the coils in a dry environment and protected from the humidity present in the air. The two half-shells are screwed together and the silica container closes with a cap with a bayonet coupling. In order to identify the type of filament inside, I created two types of labels to print with the material you are placing inside the container. They can be installed on the lid or alternatively on the curved face. You can further customize them during printing by adding a text with the description of the filament inside. I printed all the components in PLA with a 0.4 nozzle and 0.2mm layer height. The container will appear very thin to your eyes, but I believe it is robust enough to carry out its task and at the same time economically convenient. I hope you appreciate my idea.

Among the files at your disposal I have added the high version of the male part for spools with a thickness of up to 74mm. It is perfectly compatible with the previous version.
The file is called "Male_spool_cover_tall_version.STL".

Update dated 04/28/2024

I added a change to the "male spool cover tall version" part, increased the thickness a bit and added a small bevel to the base of the thread.
This change was made after a user reported that he had experienced a breakage in that area. I apologize to all those who have encountered the same problem and I invite you to report any other critical issues in order to remedy them as quickly as possible.
The new part to print for the tall version is called "Male_spool_cover_tall_version_rev.280424.stl"

Wonderfull. I made some changes to the original: - Cut and duplicate some Layers from the bottom to have more space for bigger rolls. (See picture with the blue Top, this is the Original) - Add Text to the bottom (PLA/PETG/ASA) to easier find the right material (and have stronger walls). - Putt markings at the beginning of the screw - Use the filament inside for the Top-Cover Maybe I will try to post a Remix.

Thank you very much!!!. It seems to be exctly what I need. But... I would need some help for make this work for me. I printed using a Bambu Lab P1S. I printed one, with the tall cover for Bambu spool. Everything great but when I screw two parts, really very gently, it screw perfectly well, not any strength needed. But when it reached the end, it seems that it pull a little the screw threads, and broke a part, between the "fat wall" and the begining of the screw wall, before the first thread in the cover. I use the Bamboo Studio to watch the slice, and I saw that at that level there is only a very thin (2) wall. I look into the comments and I found a guy with the same issue, you telling him you will build a version stronger... besides that I found in the list of this page one version with 4 walls, I am not sure how to dowload it, because when I push download, it allways download the same model. I am new in printing hobby, my printer is new, no experience from my side, I found this and I try it. I know how to use Fusion 360, so if I have the model I could try to fix my problem... may be doing the wall a little bit stronger, but I am not sure. Could you help me, any advice would be great. This is the second thing that is broke in my list of printed and constructed, the other one was de same, thin layers printe vertically, I made thewall stronger (increase the size) and it was enough. But I don't know a lot about this, so if you help me I will do as you say. Thank you a lot, this is great! I attach a picture, to show that layer before the thread start and after the thick wall finish. Also I attach a picture of my printed cover, showing surrounded in read pencil a part where you can see the crack (I already glued, that is why I cannot open it for a better picture)

Hi ecominguez, I added a change to the "male spool cover tall version" part, I increased the thickness a little and added a small bevel at the base of the thread. Thank you again for reporting and I apologize for the inconvenience, let me know if your problem has been resolved. The new part to print for the tall version is called "Male_spool_cover_tall_version_rev.280424" Print this part via your slicer, do not use the @BastienG print profile at the moment, wait for him to update it with the new file.

They printed very well, Do you think you can add space for the square Hygrometer?

The version with the round hygrometer is already there, I imagine you have already seen it, for the square one I could see, what size does the hygrometer have?

Nice idea, good project but it could be improved. SunLu 1kg rolls fits perfectly, others (I.e. Creality or 3DJake which are larger) do not fit. Anyway the feedback can be only positive

I actually don't use those two brands of material so I didn't have the spool sizes for. If you give me the dimensions I could think about creating a specific model and maybe send it to you
