Description

This is a right-exiting (when viewed from the front of the printer) hose adapter for the exhaust port on the X1C with clearance for the AMS Hub. The adapter attaches to the enclosure by repurposing one of the holes used to hold on the rear panel, and the three spare holes along the perimeter of the exhaust port.

There is an optional gasket that you can print in TPU, or can be printed in PLA to use for checking the fit of the adapter.

Objectives for this remix:

  1. Add clearance for the AMS Hub on X1C printers
  2. Add a fourth mounting point, by using the existing threaded hole used to attach the rear panel, to better secure the adapter on all four sides.
  3. Create a gasket for a better seal and vibration reduction
  4. I'm not sure if this is a QC problem, or if the X1C has a slightly different hole pattern than the P1S, but the top hole was slightly higher than the original model's position. This remix elongates the top hole by 1 mm to accommodate.
  5. Optimize the supports. This remix saves nearly 56g of filament by switching to tree supports! The remix only prints supports on the build surface, to reduce the difficulty of removing supports and possibility of damaging the model.
  6. Fill a void in the original model that caused a weakness in the lip of the adapter, which can cause the lip to separate along with the supports.

I would also like to thank the author of the original model, @DarkArtsLab, for providing the STEP files. These have made the remixing tremendously simpler!

Tools:

  • M3 x 0.5mm thread tap
  • 2mm Hex key (for the machine screw attaching the rear panel)
  • Additional hex key depending on the machine screws you purchase (Ideally a low profile hex key)

Materials:

  • Four M3 x 10mm machine screws (McMaster-Carr)
    • Note: there's enough clearance to use 12mm screws, if 10mm aren't available.
  • Four M3 washers (McMaster-Carr)

Instructions:

  1. (Optional, but highly recommended) Before tapping the three spare holes, it is a good idea to remove the rear panel so metal shavings aren't trapped inside the enclosure. You can follow the guide on the Bambu Lab Wiki for removing the rear panel.
  2. Thread tap the three spare holes around the exhaust port, circled below:
  3. Reinstall the rear panel as needed.
  4. Ensure the original screw to the left of the exhaust vent is removed.
  5. Place the gasket (if you printed it) on the adapter, and then put one of the screws and washers in the top hole of the adapter/gasket. Align the hole with the rear panel and partially thread the screw.
  6. Install the remaining screws and washers. Note: When installing the screw on the left side of the adapter, it helps to thread it in by hand, then tighten with the hex key.
