Description

This is a new and smaller variation of my very popular Suspended Heart - this time in the Mother's Day Edition. It uses overhanging bridges (printed on the side) to create the illusion of a three-dimensional heart suspended by fragile strings. On the side, you can read “Happy Mother's Day”, so this print makes the perfect gift for your beloved mother. I also included a model file without the lettering if you prefer that.

This model prints without supports in about 2 hours and uses less than 50 g of filament. It has 0.2mm layer height and wall generator set to Arachne in Bambu Studio. I also activated “Thick bridges” and “Detect Thin Walls” in the slice settings.
I used Bambu PLA basic red and white, which did a good job for the many thin string overhangs.

I added a single color print profile, if you do not own an AMS or do not want to change filaments manually (19 filament changes in total).

This technique is not new, my model is inspired by the Suspended Hand by STomHacks.

Turned out great, but i thought it will be little bigger 😉 not sure if i can scale suspended models

@JonasM I printed it and went ok, needed a small brim in the end, however had layer lines, only on 1 side - clossest to aux fan side, it gets progressively worse further around that side but fine on the other side (See Photos). It looks to line up with "layer time" in the slicer, so great model, I just have to figure this out. Not sure why I cant rate it ... but 5/5!!

Interesting. I had some asymmetric layer lines some while ago. It disappeared when I adjusted the belt tension on the printer. Also, you can try to force a fixed layer time for all layers.

Made it from PLA mate red, but did not have white PLA, so strings are PETG white. PLA and PETG dont stick together, but my printer doesnt know it yet, so it printed it very well. And it looks awesome.

From the front this looks great, but I had some issues towards the back. A couple of the "strings" did not complete and the heart had some imperfections. Ultimate though a great print and with some tweaking on my end, I might be able to fix the issues.
