Description

I wanted to make a lightbox for my cousin who's a Krieger, so I made up a two-tone box using cool white COB LEDs this time. I used eSun's Warm White for the accent line and Bone White for the logo itself.

All the same bits and pieces and process as used in the Necron lightbox, check it out for details. This one uses a heat insert M3x16 as an anchor to avoid the use of adhesives.

It's also the star of my shockingly low-quality assembly video.

UPDATE! V2 is here!

So I shipped this off to my cousin and USPS lost it. Went to make it again and took a little time to clean the model up and use my ever-evolving print profiles this time around. Raw geometry exports are available in the files and my current print profile is shared as well. Worth noting - I did not have one single whispie printing this after updating to FW 1.07. I don't know if it was luck or the new settings or the new firmware or a little of all three, but I had exactly 0 post-processing of the print itself!

Changes:

  • Face now has a chamfer on it, outer wall dimensions updated to be more printer-friendly.
  • Base has been changed to use a USB-C snap-in connection instead of a 5521 connector.
  • Base had walls re-dimensioned to be more printer friendly.
  • Base now has a built-in reflective layer. Assign a silver or light colored silk to this if you'd like to use it (just one extra color swap), or leave it as black if you do not.
