Description

Insert for a standard BambuLab Spool that can be filled with silica/desiccant beads to be dried in a filament dryer.
Includes a convenient snap-in funnel for easy transfer of beads into other containers.

Fully enclosed so can be used with filament dryers like the Eibos Polyphemus that rotate the spool.

Outer diameter is deliberately smaller than the spool so there's always some distance to the heating element.

Easy to print, no supports needed.
Please note, it is essential to use materials that can withstand higher temperatures, such as PETG, ABS/ASA, or similar high-grade plastics. (not PLA!)

Make sure to check the specifications of your desiccant. In my experience, it dries effectively at 70 degrees Celsius.

There's an STL for a version with thinner and more slots (1mm instead of 1.5mm for regular version) for use with smaller silica beads.

print works great and fits perfectly in my bambu spool, exactly what I was looking for. One thing I did notice was that unlike some designs, the broken beads pass through the enclosure, could you add a version with a smaller pattern? A pattern like https://makerworld.com/en/models/158496#profileId-173988 would be great.

Thanks for your feedback! Didn't see that problem on my end but indeed may be different bead sizes. I'll see if I can add a version with smaller slits and/or a different pattern.

Just added a new (untested) version with 1mm slots (instead of 1.5mm), hope that helps.

printing it right now, looks good. another suggestion, if I may, is a funnel to help with filling the spool with beads, made quite a mess filling it up. If you don't want to, I can try to model it myself.

The outer diameter is deliberately smaller than the spool so there's distance between the heater and the silica beads for airflow and so they don't burn.

Love the design and execution. The funnel is a must! 4 stars instead of 5 only because I had to re-print at 62mm Z height because at 60 my silica spilled everywhere. Would love a full spool width version to hold more. I printed in ASA and using in a dryer to recharge my silica.
