Description

Filament Spool Holder for Multiboard System

Used to mount a spool of filament on your Multiboard wall.  I use this for spools that aren't compatible with the AMS, as shown below.  I found numerous designs online, but they all had things about them that I didn't like so I designed my own. Consists of 4 printed parts and uses two 608 bearings for the axles.

External spool of TPU feeding into my XC1 (Version 2)

Version 2 Added! - Modified frame to take less real estate on the Multiboard and added some texture for an appealing look.  Roller and axles are identical in each model.

Version 2 - Assembled

The four printed parts consist of the main frame, roller, and two axles. I separated the axles from the roller for ease of printing. The axles push into the roller and then the bearings go over the axles. Then the roller assembly with the bearings lightly snap into the frame. The tolerances are tight, but it should all fit together with just a little force.

Version 1 - Print parts in this orientation

The spool holder mounts to your Multiboard tiles via two push-fit pegs. I suggest mounting to the tiles using Multiboard weight-bearing snaps or on offset mount snaps that are already attached to the tiles.

Print Settings

I suggest using supports on the frame to support the two Multiboard push-fit pegs. It is possible to print without supports if you have your print settings dialed in, but supports will guarantee they come out perfect. The roller and axles should be printed upright.

Standard Multiboard print settings work fine (0.2mm layers, 3 walls, 15% infill), but I increased the infill on the frame a bit to make it a bit stronger.

Thanks for the rating! I really like the filament guide there. I was thinking of making one of my own, but it looks like it's out there already.

Thanks, good looking model. I printed version 2 but the print failed the first time so I cannot upload a make from the second (succesful) print.
