Description

Details:
The Bekant Storage Unit on Castors is perfect for housing my new Bambu Lab X1C. With a few modifications (disc grinder required) I now had access for the AMS cables as well as the filament waste bucket.

Like anyone with a 3D printer, making a part from scratch to make things work or look better is what we do, and so I designed these parts to protect the cables, PTFE tubing and human hands.

Update: Snap fit v2 now available. Glue variant kept for posterity.

IKEA Bekant Unit:

Measurements for holes:
(disc grinder required - be safe!)

AMS Cables: 45mm x 50mm (WxH)
Filament Waste: 175mm x 125mm (WxH)

Waste Container Model:
XS version from here https://www.printables.com/model/244789-bambu-lab-magnetic-chute-cover-and-poop-management

Tips:

  1. I'd recommend printing the rear parts and marking the metal of the Bekant correctly so the pins and lip align with the hole you cut. Also cutting a few extra mm WxH is recommended to ensure things fit.
  2. I positioned the extra shelf of the Bekant unit one notch above the static shelf (above the drawer) as this shortened the distance from the AMS on top to the X1C in the Bekant unit. I then placed the X1C in the unit and marked the areas to be cut out with the disc grinder, aligning them with the AMS connector and waste chute.

Printing:

Printed on the X1C (of course) using PETG, 0.24mm DRAFT, thin walls, variable layer height and support on build plate enabled (just for the REAR sections).
