Description

I really like the parametric Gridfinity Storage box by Pred, but I don't need the stackable design. And I even like the look of the rugged box by Whity more. So I combined both of them in a 4x5 Gridfinity box.

The box holds 6U high bins and when closed prevents spilling from one bin into another one. It is designed to be sturdy enough but still as slim as possible.

Compatible Gridfinity bins

The bin on the pictures is a 1x1 6U high standard bin. You can get it here: https://makerworld.com/en/models/25563#profileId-44080

In my print profile for the Gridfinity standard bins with label is already the correct bin. You either print it 20 times or you can choose a bigger bin from the selection available there.

Lid options

Next to the basic lid with no logo there are several lids with logos from the 3D printing industry included. The logos are embedded in the first layer(s) and ready for printing with an AMS. You just need to load the colors you want in the AMS and select the correct slots in the slicer. The print profile provided by me has the body, latches and handle, seal and all different lids present on different plates. You just need to select the plate with the lid you want to print.

The following lids are currently available:

Basic Lid
Voron Edition - Lid with stripes and text
Voron Edition - Lid with stripes
Voron Edition - Lid with hexagon
Voron Edition - Lid with filled hexagon
Voron Edition - Lid with heart
Voron Edition - Lid with filled heart
Chaos Edition
E3D Revo Edition
Phaetus Edition
Prusa Research Edition
VzBot Edition
RatRig Edition

Printing

You need to print

  • 1x bottom
  • 1x lid
  • 1x handle
  • 2x latch
  • 1x seal (optional - print seal out of TPU)

Print settings

The box is printed best with the following settings:

  • 3 Perimeters/Walls
  • 5 Bottom/Top layers
  • 20% infill
  • 0.2mm layer height
  • Arachne for wall generation

Assembly

For assembly you need

  • 6x M3x30mm screws for the hinges and latches
  • 2x M3x18mm screws for the handle

Differences of the remix compared to the original

  • Adapted the design so the box is as small as possible for a 5x4 grid and 6U high bins.
  • Combined the optics of the two designs
  • Added lids with logos

a bit wasteful matrialwise, corners due to fillets are not that pretty, but came out ok

Thanks for the comment. Can you add a picture of the corners that show what is not so pretty, maybe I can adapt the geometry to make it look better…

hello there, i currently don't have the piece on hand, since it is in my workshop but i've addressed the issue in my remix already - the issue is the 1 mm fillet on the flat top and bottom surfaces - it is not marked as an overhang by the slicer, but it is basically impossible geometry to print and will fail in certain cases since it "floats" > 0 but < 0,2 mm above the build plate just replace the 1 mm fillet with a 0,2 mm chamfer and the issue is resolved with virtuall no visual change

shitty camera - but here is the comparison for the fixed and not fixed part it is basically only one strand of filament - and yes, this is some high level monk stuff :) as said before, this is already fixed in my remix https://makerworld.com/en/models/463249 for future readers of this comment: both models are not compatible though, the geometry overall might look the same, but is totally different - essentially it boils down to "magnets or no magnets" :)
