Description

Articulated model of mama duck and ducklings following behind.
This version sacrifices a bit of the look for larger, stronger links between the ducks.
If the links are too large for your taste you can try using https://makerworld.com/en/models/413031#profileId-314996 instead.
When stretched it's approximately 29cm long.
Prints with minimal supports that are easy to remove.

General 3d Printing Tips

  • Make sure your printing plate is clean! Oils from your skin will cause adhesion issues for your prints. Regularly wash your print plate with a detergent like Dawn and avoid touching the surface when removing prints from the bed.
  • If it's an option on your printer, always opt to level the bed before each print. If you have to perform this manually, make sure you do this after every few prints. It takes a bit of time and patience, but it's a fair trade for reliable prints.
  • Ensure bed and nozzle temperatures are within the expected range for the material you are printing. Temperatures that are too high or too low will affect the print negatively by causing warping, malformed layers or adhesion issues.
  • Reduce your printing speed. Slower print speed is especially important for overhangs because it gives the material more time to cool as it's deposited.

I ran the print overnight and I think my husband may have jarred the table my printer is on cause we had a little issue with slippage at the end. it literally cut the head in two haha. I had painted it in the slicer. If that didn't happen, it would have been a perfect print. I was making it for my granddaughter so I'll reprint here soon. Thanks for sharing!

Hmm... Before the cut it also looks like layers aren't sticking together very well for part of the body and most of the beak. Is the printer in an area subject to drafts or under an A/C or heating vent? Something seems to be affecting it inconsistently. Or it could just be a 'husband bumping tables' problem lol And thank you! I'm happy you like the print. I hope you are able to figure it out and make it work! Keep me posted if you can.

By the way, you could also take a short cut by reprinting only the head and gluing it on to replace the defective one. Nobody will know. Shhh....
