The ring is designed to operate without a solid connection to the dartboard, provided that you have a catcher ring around the dartboard. The LED ring is simply clamped between the board and the catcher ring. Therefore, the diameter of the LED ring is slightly smaller than that of the dartboard.
During play, the ring is inevitably hit from time to time. However, the design is such that the arrows can hardly damage the LED ring. Additionally, the design is chosen to prevent the LED from dazzling the player, ensuring that the light is directed only towards the dartboard.
