Description

This is my Botch not Bosch 12v Mini Drill, this idea for this drill came from using a hand drill, some of the tiny drills don't fit in the jaws of a standard drill so I thought I would have a go at designing one with a mini chuck.

This drill features variable speeds with clockwise and counter clockwise direction and trigger lock with the direction button, there is an LED to illuminate the work piece, the drill is powered with a standard 12v Power supply for a 2.1mm socket, drill size is up to 3mm

The drill ideally should use the same components as I have purchased and I guess this model wont appeal to a lot of people because of that but I thought I would list it for those who have access to the components.

The hardware I have used is readily available from Amazon and I have added screen shots of exactly what I used.

It's probably my most ambitious design yet and took a couple of prototypes to get to this stage.

The way I went about assembling this model is to populate the main handle part, I filed the top back corner off the trigger component to allow more space to install the LED and the direction lever, once the trigger assembly was centralised I used CA Glue to secure in place and also inserted the LED and secured the cables with CA glue to keep them away from the direction lever, I then installed the 12v DC Socket and terminated this to the Trigger assembly with some 3 amp terminal strip and tucked the wires away neatly, at this point and taking care, I soldered the relative Pos and Neg wires to the dc motor, I checked the motor direction prior to this.

The next thing to do was to secure the side plate to the handle with CA Glue, and then apply CA Glue the motor housing recess, I held this in place until the glue set as it's quite important that this is positioned correctly, the final thing is to push in the back plate, this can be glued in also if needed.

Interesting project and one I have used already.

Thanks for Looking.
