Description

This update is based on Gavitka's remix of the updated original Modular Mounting System.

This is a remix of the clamp of the Modular Mounting System. I really like the clamp but I wanted to be able to mount it on a tripod. So I add a base that can be screwed on tripod plate (with 1/4-20 screw) or mount on arca swiss type clamp. I separate threads so they can be printed with optimal orientation without support. This way the threads are very well printed and they are strong.

Use some acetone if you print with PLA or ABS (or some super glue, depending the filament material) before inserting the thread part into the main part.

11/03/2021 Update.

I made a small change at the base to fit better on arca swiss type clamps. Also I added files with bigger jaws for thicker phones or phones with cases (look for the files with the word thicker).

15/02/2022 Update

I made a small hole to the knurled head and the two screw pieces. Now you can secure them with a piece of filament if you wish.

Great design, but you want to print it in a plastic that’s stronger than PLA. I’ve broken a couple.

Where did it brake? In what orientation did you print it? Suggested orientation in the screenshot.

Only the bottom part has broken so far

It looks like there are some issues with the printed object. The surface at the upper left corner isn't smooth. Did you try another filament? May be the printer needs some tuning. You can also try more perimeters, even-though it is not necessary.

How did you make the rendering? It looks amazing

Thank you! I sliced the models in PrusaSlicer and I used the "export toolpaths as OBJ" feature. Then I used Blender to render the objects.

Thanks, it looks very cool and clean. I might have to download blender xD is it easy to render it?

It is not as easy as choosing ready materials and apply them. Of course you can use material libraries and make things a bit easier. Have a look at a couple of tutorials about product rendering in Blender. If you like modeling, you will find it very interesting.
