Description

This filament clip is printed in spiral vase mode. The filament can be double clamped. This, and the ridges on the underside, prevent it from untwisting, better as other clips can do this. The filament clip is adapted to the curvature of the filament. This is unique and ensures even better clamping.

You can click the filament into the slot in the middle (without having to thread the filament end), and then clamp it once or twice with one or two turns in the outer slots.

The filament clip can remain on the filament during printing. It is just as easy to remove the filament clip from the filament even if the filament is loaded to the printer.

Printing recommendation

  • Ensure External Perimeter Extrusion Width is set to 0.6 mm
  • Enable Vase Mode
  • Set Solid Layers Bottom / Top to 0
  • Configure Perimeter generator to Classic (important, not Arachne!)
  • To print multiple Clips, disable Vase Mode now, set Seam Position to Random, and add multiple instances.

I recommend using PETG because PLA tends to deform over time, but my favorite is ASA.

The filament locked well and that's what I wanted. Thanks for the project.

Solid filament clip, not sure why I didn't pick this model earlier. Other clip got loose overtime and get knocked off from the spool lip during storage.

For some reason it isn't letting me give you any stars. I don't know why.

Thanks. As far as I know, you can give stars for the printing profile, if you have used it. But telling your 3d printing friends to give them a try would also help me.

newbie here! I tried using the textured plate simply because I have had the best luck with it on other prints. I had 2 early failures simply because of how think this print is and adhesion becomes a problem with all of the quick movement of the X1 Carbon. To make it successful I toned the speed down of everything by about 60%, so running at 40%. It worked amazingly and the clips are very cool and work great. I like this style simply because it keep the filament down inside the spool sides.
