Description

I was looking for a solution to mount some additional lighting inside the enclosure, but all the models I could find included a raiser. Instead, I wanted to keep the original aesthetic and mount the light inside the printer.

This rail is mounted on the left, front and right side of the printer and the light will point down at a 45 degree angle. It has all the necessary cutouts to sit nicely in the corner. The thin tape that comes with the light strip usually does not hold up to the repeated heat cycles and will eventually give out. The design of the rail will therefore make it possible to slide the light strip in from the side. It fits a light strip between 8-10 mm wide.

The rail needs to be mounted in the top of the enclosure, I recommended using good quality double sided tape like 3M VHB.

I printed this in PETG for extra heat resistance.

Hope you like it, please comment and rate. Happy printing!

Printed OK vertically with the included print-profile. The P1s keeps surprising me. I ordered a cheap LED strip from AliExpress, but... I had to split it up, in other to get a good result. I used SEKISUI 5760 thermal tape, which I previously had ordered to mount my glass plate on my Ender 3, so I'm not that worried about using it here, too. I found it a bit hard to align everything, with ONE change to press each rail at the perfect spot. But I managed to do so, without doing anything the wrong way. I've also added a image on how it's located at the front, which I found pretty hard to see on OP (Muffinhead's) photo's. You'll also have to move the cables from the left side of the printer down a bit, to get the rail up in the corner. The result looks great. I mean, I was hoping for a bit more, but.. The Ali-LED strip didn't really do that much. To be honest, I'd rather just used some of the LED's I had in the storage for this, but... You know, I ordered this for the P1S, so that's what I ended up doing. It's connected to the original LED power plug, so I still have the USB header available for another project, if needed. Thank you for designing this. While starting the "installation" I actually thought about just jumping on a riser design instead, but I didn't really have the proper amount of height, to do so.

Is this definitely supposed to be printed vertically? O_O I'm scared.

I know, I was too.. :’) I would not print this on a bed slinger, but the P1S takes it like a champ. I would strongly recommend using the provided print profile (stronger brim). It can get a bit sketchy at the end and at that point it can help to slow down a bit.

Success! I’ll make a separate comment with pics. Vertical was fine - definitely print with the profile.

Great design, thanks! I just got one question though; where did you buy the rail for your kitchen knifes in the background of picture 2?
