Description

This is a special RGB Birdbath fountain nozzle I made for the season! Many outdoor water feature pumps and fountains come with RGB lighting but what makes this special is that, unlike other options where the RGB light is around the nozzle, this design features that RGB LED inside the nozzle aiming straight up. This makes the water look like paint when you shine a light through it at night! This is a type of effect that is usually only seen in professional-grade water nozzles such as what Disney would use for their World of Color show.

The nozzle should be printed in a clear or light diffuser PETG.

The base can be printed in any PETG.

This was made specifically to add to a birdbath I carved out of a rock. It takes a 5V USB pump which I am linking to below. You will need to use an Arduino or some kind of micro controller to run the RGB LED.

Assembly:

  1. print components
  2. solder the wires onto the RGB LED (I used a headphone cable to keep things as compact as possible)
  3. thread the cable through the hole and once the LED is in place, use super glue on the outside to block the hole around the cable
  4. with the hole blocked, apply layer 1 of epoxy resin to fill the space below the LED - only fill to the bottom of the LED
  5. once the epoxy is dry, apply a second layer to fully encapsulate the LED
  6. fine-tune the fit of the nozzle by sanding a little if necessary
  7. wire the LED up to an Arduino or whatever device you are using to control it
  8. attach the pump
  9. fire it up
