Description

2 piece geocache topper thats modeled as a humming bird. I recommend using JB weld epoxy applied to the top of the 5col rugged geocache tube, then squish it into the assembled humming bird. Once it dries, you should be able to twist the tube open.

You can use simple super glue / ca glue to assemble the humming bird. I don't recommend adding glue to the pegs/holes. It is unneeded and can easily cause assembly failure.

The humming bird has a hole through the back of its head to accommodate a wire/string loop in accordance to geocaching rules.

Looks great, curious how you get the supports on the wing to not mess up the surface. I've tried to print a similar model cutting it also, but could never get the wings to print/look smooth where the supports touched.

The wing angle is close to >50 degrees to the bed. At >50 degrees the printer needs no aid to print over hangs. The tree supports that auto generate using my settings on this one are actually more for balancing the gravity of the print— which leads to a more stable, quality print. The scalloped shape of the feathers on the wing helps a lot too. In short- there’s more surface area for the next layer to land on.
