I have an old Gardena watering system based on 19mm (¾") pipes. Unfortunately, the system is not compatible with the current Gardena assortment and due to the age also already fallen out of the spare parts supply.

In particular, the connection pieces in combination with the gray extension pipes are a complete misconstruction. The leverage forces created by the extension tubes lead to a breakage of the too weakly dimensioned external thread on the connection piece even at comparatively low loads (see photo).

Since the connection pieces are no longer officially available for purchase, I designed a reinforcement (armoring) of the unstable connection.

Prevention

Ideally, you mount the reinforcement kit preventively, before the thread breaks!

If the milk is already spilt, you can try to reattach the broken thread with superglue. However, the long-term stability of such a repair is significantly limited.

The reinforcement kit consists of three parts:

• 1x reinforcement tube
• 2x fixing wedges

The reinforcement (tube) has two minimally different inner diameters:

• 20.0mm for the gray extension tube
• 20.2mm for the orange Gardena connection piece

The lower side with 20.2mm inner diameter is rounded. The upper side with 20.0mm is flat. The reinforcement is printed on the head!

Before assembling, it is urgent to identify the two sides of the armor tube.

Assembly

1. Slide the reinforcement onto the gray extension tube from below.
   
   
   
2. Screw the gray extension tube onto the Gardena connection piece.
   
   
   
3. Push the reinforcement pipe all the way down over the orange part of the Gardena connection piece.
   
   
   
4. Insert the two wedges from above between the reinforcing tube and the gray extension tube.
   
   
   
5. Done!

Material

Due to the outdoor use I recommend PETG

Infill

I print the reinforcement (the pipe) with 3 perimeters. With this, there is no infill.

The wedges are printed with standard settings (2 perimeters and 15% infill).

Ich habe ein altes Gardena Bewässerungssystem basierend auf 19mm (¾") Rohren. Leider ist das System nicht kompatibel zum aktuellen Gardena Sortiment und aufgrund des Alters auch bereits aus der Ersatzteil-Versorgung gefallen.

Insbesondere die Anschluss-Stücke in Verbindung mit den grauen Verlängerungsrohren sind eine komplette Fehlkonstruktion. Die durch die Verlängerungsrohre entstehenden Hebelkräfte führen bereits bei vergleichsweise geringer Belastung zu einem Bruch des zu schwach dimensionierten Außengewinde am Anschluss-Stück (sh. Foto).

Da es die Anschluss-Stücke offiziell nicht mehr zu kaufen gibt, habe ich eine Verstärkung (Armierung) der instabilen Verbindung entworfen.

Prävention

Idealerweise montiert man das Verstärkungskit präventiv, bevor das Gewinde bricht!

Ist das Kind bereits in den Brunnen gefallen, kann man versuchen, das abgebrochene Gewinde mit Sekundenkleber wieder zu befestigen. Allerdings ist die langfristige Stabilität einer solchen Reparatur deutlich eingeschränkt.

Das Verstärkungskit besteht aus drei Teilen:

• 1x Armierungsrohr
• 2x Fixierungskeile

Die Armierung (das Rohr) hat zwei minimal unterschiedliche Innendurchmesser:

• 20,0mm für das graue Verlängerungsrohr
• 20,2mm für das orange Gardena Anschluss-Stück

Die untere Seite mit 20,2mm Innendurchmesser ist abgerundet. Die obere Seite mit 20,0mm ist flach. Gedruckt wird die Armierung auf dem Kopf!

Vor dem Zusammenbau ist dringend darauf zu achten, die beiden Seiten des Armierungsrohrs zu identifizieren.

Zusammenbau

1. Die Armierung von unten auf das graue Verlängerungsrohr schieben.
   
   
   
2. Das graue Verlängerungsrohr auf das Gardena Anschluss-Stück aufschrauben.
   
   
   
3. Das Armierungsrohr ganz nach unten über den orangen Teil des Gardena Anschluss-Stücks schieben.
   
   
   
4. Die beiden Keile von oben zwischen das Armierungsrohr und das graue Verlängerungsrohr einstecken.
   
   
   
5. Fertig
   
   
   

Druckeinstellungen

Material

Aufgrund des Outdoor-Einsatzes emfehle ich PETG

Infill

Die Armierung selbst (das Rohr) drucke ich mit 3 Perimeter/Konturen. Damit benötigt es kein Infill.

Die Keile drucke ich mit Standard-Einstellung (2 Perimter und 15% Infill)
