Description

Hello everyone, today I’m sharing a stress-relieving toy with you: the Crocodile Telegram Clamp. A gentle reminder, this stress-relieving toy can be quite noisy, so please use it considerately to avoid disturbing others.

The original design comes from the EDC Crocodile Telegram Clamp shared by Black Skin Brother. Thank you for his sharing.

Based on his model, I have made the following optimizations:

First, the original designer used 5mm diameter magnets, which I’ve modified to 6mm, with the thickness remaining at 3mm. On one hand, the larger magnet provides stronger magnetic force, and the collision sound is crisper. On the other hand, it reduces the requirement for the magnet grade. Tests have shown that N35 grade and above magnets can meet the requirements.

I’ve added steel balls to the top, using 4mm steel balls for inlay, which increases the collision sound when pressed. Here’s a comparison of before and after the addition.

I’ve improved the central shaft. The original designer left a large margin for the central shaft, so this time I’ve thickened the central shaft and shortened it slightly, making the assembly tighter.

I’ve added some personalized patterns. Those with multi-color printing can choose the multi-color printing version.

After multiple printing attempts, I’d like to share some printing settings:

I recommend using 5-layer wall thickness and 50% infill printing, with a layer height of 0.15.

If you need to print patterns, it is recommended in the slicing software to change the wall generator from classic to Arachne to check if the pattern is generated correctly when slicing.

Regarding the installation of the model after printing:

Push the magnets into the grooves respectively until the entire magnet is flush with the end face, and be careful to distinguish between the north and south poles.

Close the clamp and press it gently to ensure that the clamp closes tightly.

Open the clamp, drop a small amount of 502 glue into the gap between the magnets, and wipe off any excess glue on the surface immediately after it has penetrated.

Drop a small amount of glue into the steel ball hole, place the steel ball in the hole, and wait for the glue to dry.

Finally, this model is completely open-source. Those who are interested can download it from the following URL.

Have fun, and follow me for more open-source shares in the future.

Bill of Materials:

  1. 4 magnets, 6mm diameter * 3mm thickness
  2. 2 steel balls, 4mm diameter
