Description

AICS Long Action magazine for 30-06 based cartridges. This is long action and will not work with 308 AICS rifles. Nor will it work with long action 300 win mag. There's not enough room to make the feed lips strong enough for 300 win mag.

Need to source AK74 magazine spring https://www.gunsprings.com/AK-74/AK-74/cID2/mID141/dID436

Will need to print with supports on the follower and the locking tab. Can block supports on the follower stops on the magazine.

Print with PLA+ as PETG will have more flex. Carbon fiber nylon might work, but hasn't been tested.

Print with a 0.4mm nozzle and 0.16mm layer height (needed to reduce layer friction inside the mag).

Minimum 4 walls and 50% gyroid infill. I use 0.48mm line widths for everything except external perimeters which is 0.42mm.

I've found the angled version to print a little stronger and has less flex on the feed lips.

Does it function? - In my rifle it does feed and eject the rounds.

Are there areas to improve? A no tilt follower design might help with feeding of last round.

Magazine spring tension too high could cause rounds to not stay in the magazine. Too little tension and it won't feed properly. May need to do more testing with different spring lengths.

So, far in my testing about 9 coils of the springs linked above seems to give the best results in both the larger mags. Still need to test spring length for the short version.

Only tested to hold 5 rounds, but there's room for more I was just worried it might put more pressure on the feed lips.

Created the short version to use the shorter length of springs that are left from the AK-74 springs.
