So a couple weeks back I made an AMS cable manager, and it did really well here on Makerworld (by my standards, at least). Thanks to everyone who supported it! But I did get quite a few requests to make one for the AMS hub. I own multiple AMS units but they're on different printers, but I thought how hard could it be to just translate the design for the AMS hub and maybe I'll do eight color printing one day so I bought a hub to model the thing out and test.
As it turns out, it was quite a bit harder. I didn't even know that people don't all orient their hub the same way! So I gave it some thought and came up with this. A floating-ish cable manager plate for the AMS hub so you can use it no matter what direction you've got the hub positioned in. It'll manage both the feed and outflow PTFE tubes accurately with clearance enough for PTFE disconnect tools/buttons, and manage the power/data in from the AMS and out to the printer. You'll want to use one M3 screw in one of the three mounting points on the plate in whichever screw hole you like on the back of the printer, just to better support the weight of the hub (I found running solely magnets wasn't quite enough for the weight). I included a bunch of mounting points for 12x2mm magnets so you can print with painted support on for them and pop out and use only the points you want for your orientation, or skip the magnets entirely and just use double sided tape. Scotch Fashion Tape works especially well, I've found.
Tried to make something that would accomodate all the different ways we use the hub. Give it a shot if it suits you, and leave feedback if you have any. Cheers!
ASSEMBLY NOTE-- Once you've figured out your plan for double sided tape or magnets and taken care of that, insert the power/data cables into the hub before attaching it to the plate. Screw the hub onto the plate using the screws included with the hub, then use an M3 screw (I think I used M3x12?) to attach the plate to the printer using whichever contact point suits your orientation. Then connect all the PTFE tubes and you're good to go. Happy printing!
Should you like to check out the cable manager I made for the regular AMS junction box (using just one AMS) you can find it here… https://makerworld.com/en/models/209340#profileId-229270
