Description

Summary

BACKGROUND AND INSPIRATION:

My gram is a sweet gal who loves her neighbors who are squirrels. Every day when I come check on her, I felt like the Noosa yogurt bowls she was using to hold food for the squirrels is a bad long-term solution because the squirrels always make a mess. So, I fired up Onshape on the day before Thanksgiving (2023) and I made this Critter Cafe!!!

MORE ABOUT IT:

The Critter Cafe is not perfect I know so as time goes by, I'll be posting add-ons based on YOUR feedback through the comments and my grandma's feedback. This way, this model can better serve your neighborhood wildlife.

ADD ONS AVAILABLE:

Notes:

You should print it in either Yellow or Blue because due to findings from https://www.squirrelsatthefeeder.com/do-squirrels-have-good-eyesight

I figured out that squirrels like Yellow and blue and will be therefore attracted to the critter cafe.

Post-Printing

THE EASY WAY TO USE YOUR CRITTER CAFE

  1. Dump some water carefully into the tube that says "water". Make sure it doesn't overflow.
Dump your squirrels' favorite food down the tube that says "food". Fill the compartment up.You're all set!!! After the squirrels finish their meal, then start back at STEP 1.

How I Designed This

The magic behind the tubes...

It's designed on Onshape!!! The sweep function and the countersunk holes helped create a funnel structure. Also, I added a tiny chamfer up top for future add-ons!!!

Once again, happy printing, #LoveUrCritterz, and Donate a dollar to Kakapo Recovery to help your friendly kakapo pals.
