Description

I made a upgrade version, please check it out! https://makerworld.com/zh/models/440341#profileId-346004

Inspired by https://www.printables.com/model/442829-collapsible-katana-v2/files

---------------------

My kids are big fans of the collapsible swords. I have made tens of models for them.

Since the blades are easy to drop and relatively weak, and in addition, the original model is a glued up model, It is easily got broken and each time I have make a whole new one for them, much of waste.

So I decided to make my own one to address the issues, by introducing a rubber ring tensioned blade lock and disassemble structure for exchanging the blades.

Also, considering the rubber ring might break in the future, I added an anchor structure that make the rubber ring could be exchanged from outside.

To drag the rubber ring easily, a puller tool is also included into the 3mf file.

The assembly guide is listed in the thumbnails and not very hard to assemble.

Have fun!

------------------

Updated on 2023/11/03

The folding diameter of the rubber ring is 60mm, please check out the thumbnail for reference.

As the holes in Handle and connector are built w/o support, the diameter of the hole is not as perfect as other surfaces. This could cause the filament being hard to insert. I recommend to use a Hex Key T1.5 to clean the hole, then it will be much easier.

the red color looks elegant, which filament did you use?

I was going to do the same but that took the print from 2 hours to 17 hours so I said "nah this is good enough". Looks great though!

It’s not really red, but a red orange mix filament. Amolen is the brand name. Got it on Amazon.

How to connect here with glue?

Please check the photo. please do not apply too much, it might glue the blade lock too.

Okay, I initially thought it was stuck through the buckle and struggled for a long time without finding a solution. It turns out that it needs to be glued together, I understand. Thank you!

Very beautiful model design! Where is this structure installed? What is its function? Thank you!

This is used when the rubber ring, inside of the Guard, is broken. As the guard is glued up, once the rubber ring is broken, it will be hard to install a new ring without any tool. This little one plays as a hook, to carry the rubber ring, then guide it through the Guard, so will be easier to replace the rubber ring.

giving up now, trying to print this. wasted enough filament. A1 with Sunlu Pla+ in black. tried glue, lower print speeds (those are the two taller ones.) beware.

Looks nice, but the blade had a tendency to snap and made assembly a bit difficult. Good as a display piece. Edit: reply is correct, the filament I used is more prone to breaking. (20/feb/2024)

it is the issue of the filament rather than the model. here PLA silk is fairly easy to break as its layer adhesion is weak.
