Description

This is the updated version of https://makerworld.com/zh/models/39368#profileId-38480

I am really glad that there are many guys like this collapsible katana, and I do appreciate your suggestions and opinions.

So I found some time and made a new one, addressing the following issues in the old one.

  1. The strength of the handle-guard connector. This time I combined the handle and connector together to enforce the strength.
  2. The decoration on the handle is better to be multi colorred. So I made a new structure with the outer shell and inner shell to form the handle. With different colors of the shell, the handle now looks more real.
  3. The blade guide is thicken so should not be easy to break now.
  4. the disassemble structure are located at the tail now. And now only two pieces of filament could lock it.

Some important suggestion and notes

  1. When printing the slide lock, I suggest to use the Cool/Smooth Plate. As when using Textured Plate, the thickness of slider sole is a little bit thicker than it should be, it might cause hard to slide.
  2. Still need to use a little bit instant glue for the handle and guard, do not apply too much as it might glue the slider too. Don's ask why I know it :)
  3. The holes to lock the tail and handle are printed without any support, so it might not be perfect. This might cause the filament hard to insert. I suggest to use a Hex Key 1.5 to clear the holes first.
  4. The folding diameter of the rubber ring is 60 mm.
  5. This time, the handle is printed with Support, and I have tuned it many times to perfect the rhombic holes. BUT it is still not perfect.

If some one has better ideas, please let me know, or update your configuration here.

Print does not work. After trying to print the inside handle 5 times i gave up. Then on the other X1-C the i had the outer part of the grip being printed, you cannot remove the supports, and then when it prints the "Supports" dont break away, they infact rip the actual handle to pices. I will not be printing this again.

It took me three tries to get the inner handle to print correctly. First two were big spaghetti messes at various stages of printing.

Try low-speed printing for taller parts, or orient the piece horizontally

Really cool!!! so detailed with the locking mechanism at the end of the handle using a filament. but the fourth blade won't come out, I need to force pull it... and I need to superglue between the handle and the locking mechanism. Either way its still very nice 🤩

Very cool sword! I love the button mechanism that allows to carry the sword collapsed when travelling. My GF will definitely use it for her cosplays. As I did not have good rubber bands, I've designed a printable spring mechanism for the button. Needed to make the button a little smaller to not rub with the hand guard. With your permission, I've uploaded (only) the spring button to a model, so people can use it too: https://makerworld.com/en/models/707259

Hey! I remixed the hilt to have a round version. I think it looks pretty cool and would love to share it with others so there are more options to configure. do you want me to send you the files? I thought about posting it as a profile here, with maker points going to you. Does that seem okay? The model is listed with a standard digital license that doesn’t allow remixes.

side by side with the other one. I also remixed the scabbard to fit this new version, but it isn’t as clean as the original.

Amazing model, I’ll upload a new profile base on Bambu Studio 1.9.x for seamless print and fix one of the end sword butt print orientation.

Excellent design, ended up using the spring button instead though cause I couldn't find a rubber band that would work, they paired perfectly with the Deadpool gun for halloween, Thank you!
