Waterproof replacement cards for the popular Five Crowns card game. Don't worry about spills or tears, if you somehow manage to damage one, just print another!

The full set includes two 58-card decks, each containing five suits with cards ranging from 3 to King, plus three Jokers. The cards are 64 x 89 x 0.36mm. I based them on my original Bambu Playing Cards model, which had profiles for 0.08 and 0.10mm layers. This time, I went with 0.12mm layers using a 0.4mm nozzle, making them more robust, but still easy to shuffle and play with.

This model uses seven colors of filament. It was tested with Bambu PLA Basic and Matte. If you choose to print with a filament other than PLA, be prepared to make adjustments. With the exception of the Jokers, each plate uses three colors; one for the back, one for the card, and one for the face. The Joker uses all seven colors and was designed to be printed using two AMS. If you have one, or use an A1 with AMS Lite, you can assign the same color for all the letters and the face.

There a are 5 print profiles. The first three provide different options for the card back, including dark, light or plain, and the fourth is oriented for face-down printing with a dark back. For these profiles, with the exception of plates 1 and 2, each plate is meant to be printed twice. The plates include the following:

• Plate 1: Color test used to determine which color filaments to use
  • Bambu PLA Matte seems to be more opaque than PLA Basic - This works well for the faces and backs
  • I only tested the cards with PLA Basic but Matte should work equally well
• Plate 2: The multi-color Jokers are on this plate. Print this plate once as the deck should only include six jokers
• Plates 3 to 12: each plate contains half the cards for one of the five suits
• Plate 13: Contains an optional box for storing the cards, with separator, and can also be used as a draw and discard tray while playing
  • The box was remixed from Latching Box, Parametric Print in Place model (thanks @windrose) - I added the cutouts to make it easier to draw and discard, connected the latch bar to the box to make it sturdier, and added the crWns logo to the lid

The fifth profile includes bonus cards Ace and Two in each of the four standard suits, allowing you to convert the deck into a standard deck of cards, or two decks if you print them each twice.

Process

The idea for this model came from @SuiDog. It's based on one that I originally created using the Make My Sign beta (published NOV-2023). It was edited entirely in Bambu Studio. The suits and crown designs came from the blobmojis in Make My Sign. The images on the face cards were created using Windows Copilot/Designer powered by DALL-E 3. They were downloaded as JPEG files, converted to SVG files using Converio, then imported into Bambu Studio, manipulated and assembled into the existing cards.
