Description

As I was replacing a light fitting in my wife's craft room I decided that the current pendants are garbage, the screws are really hard to do up and I wondered if there was a Wago version available, a quick search showed that there was not.

So a some time later….

Here I present a modification to Valintw's sonoff ceiling rose base that uses Wago 221 mounts for a quick installation also including additional support for an extra heavy lightshade so that the weight is retained by the fitting better.

(I modified someone else's Wago brackets and Medallion but I can no longer find the original models pages - if you recognise them please let me know so I can give you credit).

Whilst I printed mine in Pink PLA (it's in a craft room after all) I recommend that you use PETG as it has a far better fire retardancy (self extinguishing) than PLA.

The lid I printed at 99% scale as my first attempt was too loose.

I added the cable support arm because the wires were not being supported by the little hooks it's supposed to wrap around and using one of those silly little plastic rings that go on the cable just put the weight on the already loose lid, I screwed the arm on using the 3rd hole in the base however you can print it as part of the base so do not need to screw it in.

The cable retention screw is printed separately and should be hand wound loosely onto the cable just enough to prevent it being pulled out (not screwed until the cable is flat).

Screw it to the ceiling with the wires coming through the centre hole and connect the wires into your Wago 221's then push the Wago's into the brackets.

In the 3mf file there are 2 versions of the base:

One with 3x3 way & 1x2 way Wago 221 to allow loop in/loop out wiring like we have in the UK.

One where the earth only has a 2 way Wago (this was a previous version - feel free to delete it from the plate).

I used the ceiling medallion because the previous light fitting covered a fist sized hole in the ceiling, you do not need this in order to use the pendant.

As an enhancement I will be changing the drop cable to pink as soon as it arrives.

Also please note that the letters on top of the Wago holders did not print well for me.

If you have any suggestions on how to improve this I am open to them.
