I use the Spool Holder from ThomaS to store filaments in my IKEA Samla 22l.

As I wasn't entirely happy with the silica change, I designed a simple, flat drying box with a sliding lid as there isn't much space between the rollers and the base. I don't think it's absolutely necessary to close the lid and have left it off...

Two of these boxes, each with 78 grams of silica gel filling with a diameter >1.5mm, fit into the base frame of the roller stand - I use regenerable silica gel with 2-3mm. The boxes can be easily inserted and removed with a little clearance.

Dimensions of the drying box: 125 x 125 x 15mm
Printed with calibrated Sunlu PLA+ (Bambu PLA Tough Settings, AUX-Fan off, 220/55°, PEI-Plate) without support.

I recently designed a matching hygrometer holder for the spool holder from ThomaS: Humidity/Temperature Sensor Holder

Maybe someone can make good use of the box...

Little note (05/05/2024):
After a few users noticed that the lid had “a little too much play”, I adjusted the offset and made two successful test prints. The lid now runs more tightly in the guide.

I deliberately did not use a locking mechanism, as I had spread all the silica gel on the floor when I clamped it open ;-)

Profile prints great. Unfortunately the lid model is too small and slides out without any friction

It should actually be enough just to print the cover... I have changed the offset in Fusion from 0.225 to 0.10.

Print is fine. Lid is 0.5mm too small. I have adjusted this on my prints

Thank you for your feedback. What do you mean by "the lid is 0.5 mm too small"? Do you perhaps have a photo of it? I printed 12 boxes before publication with different, calibrated filaments - they were all fine...

okay - thanks for the info... I had used an offset of 0.225 in Fusion - I could make it a bit tighter... (I've only been working with Fusion for three weeks) ;-)
