Description

UPDATE (12/10): Added an extra white layer to the face-down version of Gastly, to minimise colour bleed. Also added a print profile which minimises waste when printing a set of all three, by changing the back of Gastly to black.

UPDATE (11/10): Added a face-down version which should print nicer on an AMS, however it is currently untested.

Fridge magnets (using two 6x2mm magnets) of the original Genngar evolutionary line. Can either be printed using manual layers swaps (see below) or an AMS. Included are print files for both options. The models in the cover picture were made using manual swaps.

Manual layer swaps (assuming 0.12mm layers/included in print profiles):

Haunter and Gengar

Start: Black

From layer 33: Purple

From layer 36: White

From Layer 38: Red

Gastly

Start: Black

From layer 30: Purple

From layer 33: Black

From layer 36: White

From Layer 38: Red

Recommended print settings (original print files already have these settings):

First layer height: 0.24mm

Other layer height: 0.12mm

Line width: 0.35mm (with 0.4mm nozzle, smaller with 0.2mm nozzle)

Ironing: All top surfaces

Top layers: >9

Skirt: Off (AMS); 2 layers (manual)

You should consider doing a Print face-down version with all the features compressed into a single plane. I have had great success printing these types of objects with the AMS and a Smooth and Textured PEI plate. It would also make the holes for the magnets pretty much perfect, as there would be no bridging.

Great suggestion, I changed the models to accomodate this and uploaded them as seperate models and a print profile. Cannot test them mysel as I do not yet have an AMS, but it should work!

They came out way better face down. I have not had a chance to print them on a smooth plate yet but here is a set off the Gold Textured PEI plate. For the Gastly, I had to go increase the z-depth of all the white parts. I selected them and increased the z by 120%. Otherwise there was too much black bleed through. I would recommend making this change to the base model. I also split this model off to its own plate to prevent extra color changes as the body is purple and not black like the other two.

That is some awesome feedback, thanks! I made changes to both the print profile and the original model, so that an extra white layer is printed for Gastly. I also added an extra print profile which changes the back of Gastly to black, as to minimise waste. Keeping the other one online for those who prefer the purple cloud look (and do not mind the waste)

AMS: All three Pokemon (face-down)
These came out fantastic face-down, printed with the AMS. They lasted about an hour before my daughter noticed them and swiped the lot.
